Bringing things to life. It started early for me.
I'm a singer/songwriter, 500 songs and counting. Through the years, late night club work, musical theater (Musical Theater Works & ASCAP/NYC), workshopping other artists' tunes, commercial jingles, voice over, audio books, Dallas&NYC&LA. Music was my first love. I hear it in everything and it's my greatest muse.
I'm a writer, always editing what I've put down on paper because I tend to be verbose. Those words have to land somewhere! Published writings and way more unpublished; 25 plays/musicals, 5 books, 2 screenplays, lyrics galore. I love letter writing and try to mail one handwritten letter each week.
I'm a visual artist: textiles, paper, collage/mixed media, watercolor, acrylics. Needlework was a gift from my mother; Embroidery, knitting and crochet, tatting, embellishment, weaving, telling stories with fabric pictures. Hand work with Stylist Matt Goldman for celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Adam Levine. Other personal projects for celebrities include Sia and Beyonce. Oh, the freedom that is watercolor! To my delight, my greeting card line and original pen and ink and watercolor designs for women and children have found their way into specialty gift stores and boutiques. The surprise of collage is for me so close to working with words - arranging and rearranging and hearing the musical phrases leading the way. I like detail and have learned to pay attention to it in my life as in my art. It shows me what is important to me and how I see the world.
In the past 10 years I've been working alongside folks who want to unearth the process of their creative selves - folks in business and music and merchandising and education - youngsters of all ages. Freeing one's creativity opens up a life to endless possibility and ultimately, endless happiness. This joyful work grows exponentially and I am growing along with it. Helping others who are temporarily stuck are some of the most collaborative creative experiences I've ever had!
A word about children - it's where we all started and I love my connections with the children in my life. My own children and their loves are my greatest teachers and support. The time I spend with a child is a treasure beyond words.
