My yesterday's behavior shapes my tomorrow. In between yesterday and tomorrow is Today. And that's what counts.
Our world is upside down right now. At least that's what I hear in the news, in conversation. There are events going on everywhere over which I have no direct control.
I do have control over my response to what I hear, what I experience. That's my opportunity to be proactive in my Today.
I get to let myself feel my emotions completely. I can release them through crying or writing or punching that old pillow. I can call a trusted friend. I can take deep breaths. I can smile (It relaxes 13 muscles in the face and has a huge positive effect on the body). I can laugh!
I am free to go about my own business. I can nurture myself with healthy food. I can walk with my dog. I can do my work consciously enjoying it. I can be grateful that I have work to do! I can look around me and see the Good - the Good in yesterday, the Good in today, anticipate the Good of tomorrow.
I'm talking about mindfulness, of course. It's age old and eternal. It's simple and effective. It's always there for the taking. It was available yesterday, it's here today and yes, it will be there tomorrow ...
